Billy Gibbons and the BFG’s – Perfectamundo

November 6, 2015 (Concord) Debut solo album by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and front man for legendary Texas rockers ZZ Top, takes his trademark vocal gravel and crunchy guitar tones into Afro-Cuban territory while keeping his bluesy, soulful rock ’n’ roll roots-loyalty intact.  Billy Gibbons and the BFG’s take the listener on a trippy, footstomping journey through Latin terrain with the spicy vitality and rhythmic exuberance of tracks like “Sal Y Pimiento”,  “Hombre Si Nombre”, “You’re What’s Happenin’ Baby”, “Q-Vo” and Quiero Mas Dinero”.  Throughout the album Gibbons’ guitar snarls and teases with languid snake-like charm, bobbing and weaving around a bed of Latin percussion, timbales, syncopated piano and swirling B3 organ, making for an album, as the title track suggests, that is “Perefectomundo”.
