“Dion lived just up the block. Everyone was singing in the neighborhood, on the street corners and in the hallways.” Ernie Maresca
Bronx, New York born singer-songwriter Ernie Maresca is best known for co-writing some of doo-wop/pop star Dion’s biggest hits, including “The Wanderer” and “Runaround Sue”. Both songs, released after Dion left the Belmonts and went solo in 1961, became million sellers with “Runaround Sue” hitting #1 and “The Wanderer” reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The songs have since become part of the American cultural fabric while being covered by dozens of other artists and making Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.
