The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades

Timbuk 3 was an American alternative pop group formed in Madison, Wisconsin by talented multi-instrumentalists and married couple Pat and Barbara K. MacDonald. Most well-known for their Top 20 single “The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades”, which appeared on their 1986 IRS Records debut, Greetings From Timbuk3, the duo found a niche in the college/alternative community with their intelligent yet quirky fusion of traditional folk and country with synthesizers and drum machines. In 1987, the band was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and received critical acclaim for each of their subsequent full-length albums, Eden Alley, Edge of Allegiance and Big Shot in the Dark. Their music has been featured on more than 20 compilations and soundtrack albums as well as appearing in numerous films and television productions.
